Just another week of saving lives this week! I saw a lady who hit her eye so hard when she fell that the pressure caused the coloured bit of her eye to squeeze out. It was wild and the surgeon said he'd never seen anything like it before. Staying for her emergency operation did cause me to miss the last bus back into town from the eye hospital, so it took me a fairly long time to walk, which resulted in a little concern back at the ranch...
We had a little mosey around one of the nearby shopping centres on Friday after placements, but the real adventures began on Saturday when we took the ferry across to Waihiki, a nearby island which produces a lot of New Zealand's wine. We paid for a bus tour and a day bus pass- apparently there are very few actual buses on the island, so we did a lot of walking, which gave us a chance to sober up a little between vineyards. We were very lucky with the weather- it was perfect sunshine for the entire day! We returned on the ferry before enjoying takeaway noodles at home. Today we're going to watch the only rugby league team i n New Zealand play against an Australian side with our host family and apparently it's a really big event, so keep an eye out for some photos!
