ok well had a corker of a night for our last night in amsterdam, got some drinkies than hung out at the park for hours watchin everyone walk past. some beautiful but some strange looking ppl around this part of town. got sick of the park and then we made our way into a pub, saw alex working and she looked after our thirsty tastebuds then caught up wth some older rugby fellows that of course brought us afew more drinks, apparently all the rugby boys were out after a huge rugby tornement the whole weekend, so we were up for some dancing and free drinks. a few more shots and a puke later finally managed to stumble our way home . then up early for the 8 hour bus ride to berlin.
holy crap what a drive that was. lucky for me had some panadol in my bag thank god. arrived in berlin and it took us another hour from the outter berlin to get to the hostel because of course the dali llama was in, (of all ppl). set up camp then checked out a couple of the local bars around our joint. place call the squatters bar was an old building that was bomed in the war, still left in the same condition run down and covered in graffiti art. awsome!! place was filled with local art and sculptures, cool tunes and beer being served out of a caravan. first impressions of berlin not a very pretty town but i guess im not here to see the buildings, im hear to learn about our history. also stunk like poo in some places, (we found out the next day that berlin was built on swamp!!!)
day 2 in berlin, up in the centre of town by 11 to hop on a FREE walking tour, suited our budget quite nicely. 3 and a half hours of checking out all the historical buildings in berlin and learning about the terror of the war and i guess really realising that it was only 70 odd years ago. Also saw the famous hotel that michael jackson hung his kid out of the window. apparently the presidential suit is 12,700euro a night for a bullet proof room. doesnt include brekky but!!! got some amazing photos and relearning what i didnt listen to in year 10 social studies. the great day was then followed by a pub crawl that we scored for free. thank god we didnt pay for it cause we only got 3 shots of sugary diluted booze.
again feeling alittle crusty from last nights festivities got up again and went on another tour to one of the main concentration camps 40 mins out of berlin. absolutly heart rencing to hear what ppl 70 years ago went through. really got me alittle emotional. i guess i really didnt listen in social studies. saw the conditions and how these prisoners lived and worked day in day out. unforgetable experience. anyone goin to germany try and get to a concentration camp!!! food is dirt cheap so got a huge bowl of pasta for 3 euro. that night went to a dirty irish bar with my new gay boyfirend to drink beer and watch the man u and chelsea game, dam that goes for hours, i think i remember who won, i know my liver didnt win but lol. home reletivly early to comprehend packing to leave for prague tomorrow morning. enough time spent in berlin, got to drink booze and get a couple of history lessons.
