Its boxing day in Rio de Janeiro and there are a few hangovers around!! Xmas day was lovely despite the pouring rain and a stomach upset for me!! Four nights on a tiny Island off the east coast of Brazil!! Just what was needed before the hectic time in Rio!! And good opportunity to get a tan!! We sunbathed, walked round the island, ate fish rice and beans and basically had a lovely time!! Off to Rio tomorrow for fun fun fun!!!

For this weeks activities we decided to head into the pantanal rainforest on a four day tour! As soon as we were off the bus the mosquitos started biting and didn't stop until we left 4 days later, despite the copious amounts of insect repellent and deet applied to the body, at least this is not a malarial zone!! We have spent 5 days in Foz Do Iguacu to see the waterfalls! These were really spectacular to see and we took alot of photos!! We first visited the Argentinian side which is the larger and went on a speed boat trip right into the waterfalls got very wet and there was a lot of sreaming as we went through the rapids!! Having left Buenos Aires, we caught a one hour boat to Colonia, Uruquay!! Colonia was a lovely pretty town were we spent 2 days drinking wine and watching the sun set! Lovely break after the city!! We then caught a bus 2.5 hours to Montevideo the capital!! We had a rubbish hotel and got bitten heaps in the night, but suffered 2 nights and enjoyed the city and the beach!! Our next stop will be Foz Do Iquacu and the waterfalls!!
