Arequipa was not a nice town!! I ate a Guinea Pig which was not very pleasant andeverything felt a little threatening!! However there was El Misti Volcano,a 5830M summit to conquer!! We started the climb at 10.30 am friday morning and hike with our packs for 5 hours in the sunshine up to base camp at 4500M. After supper we were in the tent by 7 freezing cold and knackered!! No worries though just had to get up at 1am and hike for another 6 hours to the top...

New country of Peru this week!! First stop Cusco amd all the Inca ruins!! We were unable to do the Inca trail as fully booked up until end of november!! So instead a 2 day tour to Agua calientes and macchu Pichu!! Day 1 took us through the sacred valley on a very cramped bus tour! Went to a lovely Llama farm and I felt a little guilty about having eaten one previously!! Day 2 we were up at 5.00am to hike up from Aqua Calientes to Machu Picchu we didn't make sunri...

We have just spent 2 beautiful days in Copacabana a beachy town on the edge of Lake Titicaca! The sun shone lots and it was a much welcome break from the hustle and bustle of La Paz!! We did lots of chilling out and at 1 pound a night accomodation wasa cheap little break!! Good food and all the wine you can drink before 10.30 as thats when everyone wanted to go to bed it seemed!! This weekend we have ventured out of La Paz on a 3 day tour of the dessert and salt flats at Uyuni towards the south of Bolivia. Following a 10 hour bus journey from La Paz, Murray, Angie and myself met up with the other 3 members of our tour group!! 1st week in La Paz is now complete! I seem to have avoided any form of altitude sickness, we are approx 4000m up, although it is tough climbing stairs and I would not wish to attempt a triathlon up here!! I have been mainly settling in, getting used to the altitude, catching up with Murray and eating/drinking!
