Today we set off on another adventure or two. Firstly we set off to the main temple in the village which was beautiful all gold and painted to perfection. Next to the temple was the house of the former king/queen which has now been turned into a museum. I had to rent some clothes before we went in as I had my shoulders and knees showing; I forgot about that rule. When we went in it's was amazing, everything has been preserved so well and the bedrooms and clothes we're immaculate! The walls we're all decorated by handmade mosaics, which must have taken weeks/moths to complete. You could see the throne he used down to the books they read and their dining room, it was so interesting; usually not mine or Jordan's thing but we did really enjoy it. After a quick lunch at the bakery we then set off to some caves about an hours drive from the centre of Luang Probang. It was In the middle of nowhere and after about 10km on a dirt road going deeper into what seemed a jungle and not seeing any other cars/Songtaoa I got a bit worried, but finally we landed in a little village. To get to the caves you walked through the village and then had to get a little 2 minute boat across the river (a little bit scary as the boat was clearly handmade by the villagers with a few bits of wood and nails). After that we then got to the caves which we're amazing, there we're thousands of Buddhas in the nooks of the caves and carvings on the walls and a story about how it was formed and why everything is there. Wiered again but it was really good. On the way back we saw an elephant sanctuary set up by villagers who save the animals from logging and other ways in which they we're treated badly, it was so nice to see the animals being able to play in the river freely with no harness attached. You could go and stay an help out at the sanctuary for a few days but we didn't have time and also it was expensive. They use the money they gain from tourists to keep the villagers in work and also provide a better place for the animals and help to rescue more! I wish we had enough time to do everything! Later on we went for a traditional Loas massage- it was amazing, and I preferred it to the Thai ones. I will deffinatly be going for a head massage later on in Laos.
