We have finally arrived in Loas after what seemed one hell of a journey. 6am start with then a 2 hour coach ride to the immigration point where me and jord found out we overstayed by a day; we thought it said 28 but it really said 26th resulting in a 500baht fine each and a quick trip to the police station. Finally after that was sorted we then got our Loas visas, one month each. We had booked a package deal with a 'slow' boat to take us down the river to Luang Probang. As the fast boat is so dangerous you have to wear motorbike helmets on- we thought we'd give it a miss. After getting in the county we then set off on our 7 hour boat ride down the mekong river, it was am axing some of the thing you saw and the view the whole way was beautiful. We then stopped in a small village called Pat Beng which was very small and the guesthouses we're made out of a few nails and some wood- not the best but couldn't expect much more for 1£ a night each. The next morning we then set off in another 7 hour boat ride which would then take us to Luang Probang; this seemed forever down the river and after what felt like 3 days we eventually docked. We met some friends on the boat and then all shared a tuk tuk to the centre where we walked around looking for cheap hostels. We have found a very clean and pretty nice one for £3 a night each and some people of the boat share our room so not complete stranger which is good! It's a one minute walk from the main road which has all the night markets and resteraunts which we are about to go and investigate tonight! Firstly I think we need to get our head around the currency; £13,150 kip to one English pound. Very strange walking around with what feels like millions of pounds on you and having to pay 8,000 for some water haha but we're getting our heads around it slowly.
