This morning when we woke up we decided to go to the next place on our list- Battambang. A quick 4 hour bus journey and we are here. As the bus pulled up about 50 tuk tuk drivers came to the doors all wanting to take us on tours of the town and find us the cheapest and nicest place to stay. We chose one who would take us everywhere we wanted to go for the day for $15, he was also the 'best looking tuk tuk driver 2014' well his sign said so anyway. He was really nice and spoke good English. He took us to a really nice hotel with air con (a big plus) and let us unpack a little before he took us on a tour. Firstly he took us too the 'Bamboo Train' something you have to do here, it was hilarious. It is a few pieces of bamboo resting on two iron rollers with a little lawn mower engine ontop. The driver takes you through the country side and you go pretty fast to say its only a small thing (it's scary too) then when you get to the 'station' you get off have a drink and a walk around the few stalls while he has to pick up the carridge and turn it around for us to be able to go back. Me and Jordan loved it and thought it was very fun! After this our tuk tuk driver then took us to some bat caves- where at sunset we can watch all the bats fly out from where they've been sleeping in the day- it took over an hour and half for the bats to stop as there are over 8million of them in the cave. After a while of watching we decided to take a jeep ride upto the top of the caves where we watched the sunset, which was amazing. There we also a lot of wild monkeys here too and as the sun went down they ran around and played near us, It felt like something out of a movie. After on the way back we stopped off at some more caves; the killing caves. Another killing site of the Khmer Rouge- the dropped bodies down the hole of about a 80ft drop onto spikes of rocks. Now there are staircases which you can go down to look up at the drop, very sad and upsetting as there are still bones and skulls pilled up in the bottom of the cave. We then went back to the hotel and went to a nice little resteraunt for tea where they helped to train young Cambodians to cook and help get them into a job and stop begging. The food was delicious!
