Ahhh Brisbane....
I have mixed emotions of Brisbane so far, take my first night.. walked into the hostel kitchen to find it has 4 hobs, 2 microwaves and 1 toaster (which only toasts one side of your bread at a time!!!!!!!!) and probably about 6 forks for about 400 people. SO after fighting for a hob which decided to break on me, my only option was to microwave my noodles, leaving them soggy and tasteless and then losing a battle for a fork, eat them with a spoon. Which is tricky.
We then decided to go for a refreshing drink at the "Down Under Bar" which is directly below the hostel only to be verbally abused by some local Ozzy men, e.g when i refused to believe one of them could read and speak chinese (because his friend told me he couldn't) he jumped up ON THE TABLE and shouted that i was a racist... ok then. Apparently that was his chat up line (being able to talk chinese, and it usually worked, so he was annoyed that it hadn't on me. Poor sod.)
For the next few days I didn't do much, mainly shopped and napped. I think Brisbane would be a really good place to settle and work but as a tourist there isnt much to do. I went to the Brisbane Museum, which consisted of one room full of old sewage pipes (i think) one full of dresses and one full of photos. I was there for about 30 minutes.
The next day I went window shopping, as i couldn't afford to buy anything in the evening went to the local club called Uber which was a really good night and quite cheap too which is a surprise!!!
Thursday has to have been my FAVOURITE day in Brisbane so far, I went to the Koala Sanctuary and held a Koala! His name was Rodney and it was love at first sight (for both of us, he gave me a cheeky wink just before i held him :)!) I also got to feed some Kangaroos and Wallobies and got chased by some BIG bird. All in all a good day :)
Today, which is Friday, Sophie and I took the train back down the coast to Surfers Paradise as we missed it out on the way up. Surfers is pretty much the Miami of the East Coast. A lovely beach and Sky high buildings, its good for a day trip but I'm glad we didn't stay longer.
So next stop is Noosa, a bigger version of Byron Bay and i must say I am definatly looking forward to getting out of the city and back to the beach!!! :)
Lots of love xxx
