I've seen a real Kiwi.
Went today to the Agrodome to watch sheep dog trial, sheep shearing and I milked a cow! I volunteered, I've always wanted to try it, its supposed to be really difficult. It was no probs. It was a great show, really interactive. So much laughter. It's fab when every-one takes part and no-one takes themselves too seriously.
After this we went on to Te Puia, a Maori craft and skills centre. It was lovely. They are trying so hard to hold onto their heritage. Passing down their skills and knowledge.
We saw the Guysers and the hot bubbling mud. They have a protected pair of Kiwi there and as they are nocternal we stumbled around in the dark for a peep. They are much bigger and far more strange than I had anticipated. I was pleased to see them.
It's so amazing, I have become such a tourist. I love the tours. They are really informative. Our guide Ted is half Maori, and all the Maori people have such pride in their history and their ancestors. It is wonderful to see and share.
