We got up at 4:30 and the taxi picked us up not much later. In the queue for check in the couple behind us had a puppy exactly like the Andrex puppy. It was so tiny and absolutely adorable, it couldn't even step up onto the pavement!
We got onto the ferry and had seats again. It was a lot busier this time and all 150 seats were full. We were so tired and everyone was being really loud. Then a voice came over the speaker and said there were still cabins we could upgrade to. We got a discount with our interail and because we had already paid for seats so it was €75, and completely worth it. We got in our cabin and went straight to sleep. The cabin reminded me of going on holiday in the static homes and the boats. We slept until 3pm so that took up a lot of the boat journey. We were kicked out of the cabin at 4 so they could clean, and we went to the restaurant area and played cards for about 3 hours!
When we got to Barcelona I was so excited. I wish we had stayed longer as we only booked two nights and our first day was already gone.
Just quickly - I will mention how we have been booking accommodation. There is a company and an app for booking hotels called hotels.com, and they have a rewards scheme whereby for every 10 nights you sleep with them you get 1 night free. Our accommodation has generally been £20-25 each per night but our hotel in Florence is £14 and in Madrid it is £12, so Spain is looking to be cheaper than Italy was. Over here basic hotels in cities are called 'Hostals' and that tends to be where we are staying in Spain.
The hostal in Barcelona was small and noisy but it was clean and comfortable as well. It is in an incredible location, right near the centre and about 100m from la Casa Batlló - one of my favourite Gaudí buildings. It was just off the Passeig de Gràcia which is the main road in Barcelona. By the time we had walked to the hotel and taken our bags off it was gone 9pm. We went for a walk along the road and it felt really nice to be back in Barcelona. We had an ice cream and wandered back.
