Today we left Brussels (after learning how much we hate city tax) and have moved on to Luxembourg! The train to Luxembourg City was about 3 hours long with an engine problem halfway which delayed us by 40 minutes. We then got a train to Esch-sûr-Alzette where our hotel is (Hotel de la Poste). Our hotel is in the centre of a pedestrianised shopping quarter, so it is quite busy on the street below, but fortunately not far from the station. Esch is alright, but there are a lot of intimidating people there.
What we've found strange about Belgium and Luxembourg is the lack of restaurants that stay open past 4. Even bars stop serving food then! Last night we went to an Italian restaurant which was the only one that was even open. Paul had spaghetti bolognese and I had a spicy chorizo pizza.
We are here for two nights, and are going to Luxembourg City tomorrow.
We have found that a lot of people don't speak English here, and French and German are the main languages definitely. Even though we look like tourists people talk to us in French, which I don't mind!
