We are having the most amazing time! The jungle was INCREDIBLE! The trekking was hard work in the heat though, the first day we walked for about 4 hours and climbed 1040m in 35+ heat! We saw a couple of snakes and alot of poisonous bugs etc! We trekked on elephants first which i (ellie) found very scary to start with! They are huge and it was just me and tom sat on top and it just started walking off before anyone else's elepghants were moving! There was a group pf 12 of us who all trekked together and we made some cool new friends from new zealand, america, Sweeden and Spain! The walks were well worth it though despite all the sweat and bug bites, as the first night we stayed in a bamboo hut at the highest point of the jungle so we could just see rainforest for miles! Then the second day we swam in two HUGE natural waterfalls which were awesome but soo powerful and that evening we stayed in another bamboo hut by a waterfall further into the jungle! Thats where we saw a 30cm fat red millipede! (Even you would of been scared Kitty!) We survived anyway and after another long walk we arrived at a river where we climbed into a raft and did some white water rafting! Half way down the river though a thai man told us to take off our helmets and lifejackets and swap onto this bamboo raft, which quickly submerged with 6 people on it! We had an amazing time but were very glad to eventually see a road and a truck three days later to take us back to our hotel where a warm shower was very welcoming! We didnt hang around long though we had a quick swim and shower and headed out to a restaurant on the chiang Mai river, where we met up with the newzealand couple for a refreshing drink and thai dinner! Back to the hotel at about 11.30 when it was still 30 degrees to pack and try and get some well needed sleep! Up again bright and early though and we flew down to Ko Samui which is an island in the south east of thailand, where we are staying in a gorgeous bungalow, with an infinity pool overlooking the white beach! Im sitting by the pool now, and toms snoozing in the sun after spending the whole day in the pool and sea! So as you can see we've been busy with elephant trekking, jungle walking, white water rafting, socialising :P, bamboo rafting and swimming but we have loads more planned! It's great to read all your mesages, nice to see we're missed! Hope everyones well, im going to wake tom up now to try and see if he can upload some more photos (especially some elephants for you Kitty!) We'll update you again soon! Love Ellie and Tom xxxx
