Koh Samui:
After an emotional and hungover goodbye to our Codge Lodge farming friends we went back to our hostel in Cairns to prepare for our trip to Asia the next day. On Monday we were going to get a transfer to Cairns airport but some Australian guys offered to let us in their taxi for free. As usual, we had left our tax forms until the last minute and couldn't figure out how to fill them in the night before so gave us. But our luck struck again as one of the guys was an Australian accountant and sorted it all out for us for free! We were terrified of flying after all the planes that had gone missing/shot down/crashed and we had three planes to catch, one of them being with Malaysian airlines. Our first plane was to Brisbane then we had a six hour wait in Brisbane, no wifi, was s***. We then survived our eight hour Malaysian airlines journey but the food was not as goo as we remembered, much to our disappointment, but we did watch the Other Woman. We had another six hour wait in Kuala Lumpar for our AirAsia flight which was delayed two weeks before we even got on it. After getting on our toy plane to Surat Thani we didn't have a clue what to do so booked a bus and ferry to Koh Samui. We thought the bus was going to be a fifteen minute transfer. Instead we waited an hour for the scabby bus with pink decorations to leave. We were then locked on for two hours as it drove to the ferry. Lisa almost pissed herself and the driver wouldn't let her off and air con dripped in our heads. At this point Ellie realised that her right knee was starting to grow in size (it was only two days ago that her other knee had gone down and she was able to walk again without crutches). By the time we got off the bus and onto the ferry she couldn't walk very well. The ferry was so crammed we had nowhere to sit so sat in the floor, eating a horrible lot noodle which burnt our mouths. We played the same s*** card game over and over again. Had to pee in a pot. Karl Pilkington would have killed himself. We thought for a second banana sorting may be more fun...then the memories came back...and we quickly changed our minds.
Finally arrived at Koh Samui in the evening with nowhere to stay and no clue where to go. So we walked up to some random people and decided to follow then. We all got in a taxi to Chewang. We were with a random 31 year old Australian man and 39 year old Australian woman. After trying many hostels Rob finally found us one in the centre of Chawang. It was a long walk and Ellie's knee was bad...all we wanted to do was go to bed after all our travels. We stayed in a three person room with Lynda and Hannah McNeil came and visited us before we slept.
On Tuesday we had our first Pad Thai which was amazing. In the evening we went for food with Hannah and her friends who were more crazy welshies. We bought loads of alcohol and went back to their hotel to predrink. Ellie predrunk lying in the bed with her foot elevated. All the boys were bad. We played loads of drinking games where you were continuously forced to down your drink. Lisa was smashed after half an hour. Hannah smashed a bottle of vodka then they decided to buy three more. Everyone was hammered. Ellie decided not to go out because her knee was f***ed and Gareth carried her to bed. Lisa appeared half an hour later because she was so drunk and had to leave the bar. Woke up with Lisa feeling horrendous and Ellie barely able to walk, had to pack up all our stuff. We somehow made it via taxi to the ferry, en route to Koh Phangan!
