Our last few days with the group in Thailand.
We arrived back in Thailand and had a few hours in the bus til we got to Chaing Mai (North Thailand) where Jen and I were due to be leaving the tour and doing our own thing. This was the plan til about an hour before we were going to the train station to change our train tickets when we decided to sod it, go back to Bangkok with everyone and then head south to the islands for a couple of weeks. On the way to Chaing Mai we stopped off at what can only be described as the tackiest temple in existance (all white and glittery).
So again we found ourselves on another overnight train - this time from Chaing Mai to Bangkok. Again, to my distress no disco carriage to cavort in. In fact, there was to be NO cavorting, or laughing or enjoying ourselves in any shape or form on this particular train journey. Although we were all sat together we were also sat in a carriage full of (im sure) devil worshiping children. Now, as you know, I am a big fan of kids in general but you should have seen some of the looks they were giving us! They would have stopped lucifer in his tracks. Beacause of these 'children' we were sent to bed by the train staff, at about 9pm. Under no uncertain terms were we to speak, laugh or do anything after this point. As you can imagine, this didnt go down very well - especially as NONE of the other carriages had this enforced bedtime - so there was much giggling and pretending to be asleep as the train staff walked passed. We were very mature.
We arrived in Bangkok early the next morning and had a nothing day really. In the evening we all went up this massive tower. Seriously...I think there were 87 floors. Seriously. And I went all the way to the top and onto the outside revolving viewing floor. And I'm still alive!! It was good to go and the view from the top was quite amazing - and even better when it got dark and I had had a drink (to calm my nerves of course!). Later that night we went out for a few drinks at a shell petrol station. It was the last time we were together as a family and had to say goodbye the next day as Jen and I got the night bus to Koh Phagnan.
