In the morning we headed from Chiang Mai to Pai on a mini van, the journy was 3 hours and includes 79 sharp bends around a very doggy road (apparently they quite a famous things around here). By this point we were knackered, getting up early, not much sleep and the trek had done us. We managed to find a place with lots of little huts over looking the river for a nice and cheap price though. It was very basicly but lovely. The bridge however to get across the lake looked like it was about to break but we made it over okay. We then headed into town for a bit of lunch then back to the hut for a lovely 3 hour nap lol. Pai is lovely, i want to live there, its also without a doubt where i want to go on my honeymoon lol (that is if i ever found some who would want to marry me ahahaa). Its like thai countryside, just a little town with all these lovely individual bars, resturants and shops, virtually no cars as everyone gets around on mopeds and its surrounded by lakes, just bliss really. After our mega nap we went out for some dinner. When we were eating we saw some people we had met in Chiang Mai so after dinner we went onto a bar with them and had some lush cocktails.
The next day we decided to do things the 'Pai way' and rent a moped to get around. None of us had ever rode a moped before so at first it was more than a little scary, especially the only lesson you get is a thai man tell you how the go up a straight road twice. After a wobbley start and driving no more than 10 miles an hour through town we got the hang of it though and headed off to find a waterfall (i only fell off once....bonus lol). After this we went for an afternoon smothie on the side of the road then went for a nice drive around the thai countryside, it was awesome! We then went back for some dinner and an amazing ice cream (probalay the best ive ever tasted) and then to this really cool bamboo bar for a few drinks. After this we went to a tattoo shop just to have a look (they stay open all hours here) and convinced Chrissie she did want a tattoo.
Today we got up early to go to the tattoo shop for Chrissie to get her tattoo....her name on her foot with a lovely flower design around it. They dont do it like normal tattoos though but with bamboo instead as it heals quicker and is safer. Once it was done it looked amazing and makes me really want one lol. We then went to this cafe for the nicest breakfast then back to Chiang Mai. This afternoon we have just been packing and shopping ready for our 28 hour or so journey in the next few days to the islands....full moon party here we come :)
