Im not sure how long these travel blogs will last for but i thought id give it a go lol, we have been in Bangkok for 6 days now and its hot hot hot (pretty much 33/34 degrees each day, really muggy though so no tan as yet). We landed in Bangkok after an 11 hour flight and after accidently going through transfers and security we eventually found the baggage area then jumped into a taxi onto our hostel. The hostel is nice and clean and we are staying in rooms called a nap space (which gives the idea theres space-there is no space lol). The first night we just headed to what we thought was koh san road (turns out it wasnt lol) and ate some pretty doggy looking thai noddles which were like thin lasagne.
The next day we walked to the golden temple/palace, it was pretty amazing, so beautiful and colourful. After this we decided to brave a tuk tuk (bad idea) to go to the highest point in Bangkok and then to the golden buddha (the budda is massive and very gold lol ). Tuk tuk's are stupidly cheap (20 bht and they will take you anywhere, basicly 40p) however its not worth it lol, on our travels he also decided to take us to a doggy travel agent and a dress makers so they gave him free fuel and if u dont go along with it you dont get a ride lol. Not only this, they like to drive on the other side of the road so they can get places quicker and then quickly go to the right side of the road just before you get hit by an oncoming car. Anyways after this we needed a drink so we headed to koh san road for drinks and dinner (the real one this time, its pretty much just an asian magaluf so of course i love it), tried thai buckets and some really nice thai beer, then in true british style headed to mcdonalds fairly drunk at 2am for nuggets and chips.
The next day we took a taxi to a massive shopping mall, however taxis are just as bad a tuk tuk's so we ended up at a musuem instead and eventually gave up and took a tuk tuk there (who luckily made us only do one stop at a gem shop). Then onto the biggest outdoor market in asian by tuk tuk again, who only took us half the way as every place he took us to to get free fuel we had already been so they wouldnt give him any lol. Eventually we made it and it was massive, everything is so cheap as well, tops are only 100 bht (2 pounds) and so are dresses. In the evening we braved the street food-pad thai and it was actually amazing, so tasting and only 60p! Then we headed back to the hostel and sat and had drinks with a group of people from there in the outside bar.
Yesterday we had a lazy day just doing a bit of shopping around koh san road and going for a nice meal in the evening and just chilling out at the hostel. This morning however was a different story we woke up to find one of the people in the dorm room (there is 22 of us sharing the same room) had decided to s*** on the floor next to the door, not the nicest thing to tread over at 7am in the morning lol! Anyway that lovely moment :L we headed to the floating markets (another big market but this time on a river), we were taken there by speed boat and much like thai driving on the road, driving on water is just the same, we almost capsized so many times but it was great fun. We then took a boat along the floating market, then sat on a bench eating mango and people watching. This evening we've just been to get some pizza and are waiting for our overnight train to Chang Mai in northern thailand.
Oh also people keep taking photos of us or with us where we are so white, its very odd, we are like our own toursit attraction lol. Also thai tomato ketchup and snickers are the best things in the world.
