Walking in this area is marvelous and today’s stroll was proof of that. Yesterday we were told yes flip flops would be fine as it was only an easy walk. However it rained last night in fact we had a thunder storm and this morning our guide said shoes may be a good idea. Thank goodness he did - easy yes - flip flops never.
We visited several local industries in town first, including a body making factory. This was not a plastic surgeon but a car/lorry body making factory. They get engines from India and create the body out of wood to order. We saw several around town - some beautifully painted.
We then walked to the waterfall that our guide said - yesterday- had very little water. Luckily that thunderstorm had done it’s work and as you can see from the picture it was gorgeous. Apparently it dries up completely for March, April and May so we were lucky.
We then continued walking to a Shan village for Shan noodles- very good. Followed by a boat trip and another Shan village but this time some of the houses were made of teak instead of Bamboo. Also solar power instead of hydro.
If you visit Myanmar make some time for Hsipaw it is beautiful and the people here want you to visit.
