We gave ourselves an extra hour of sleep this morning & then went to Knotts Berry Farm to look in the Camp Snoopy shop. They have a marketplace with a few shops & restaurants on the outside of the theme park. Rob saw a t-shirt she wanted but they didn't have her size. The guy told us the shop in the park may also have them. We went to the Visitors Information & found we could pay the entrance fee, go in to look at the shops & if we were back within an hour, the whole entrance fee was refunded. So we did that & managed to get photos with Charlie Brown, Snoopy & Lucy as well.
We left Knotts Berry Farm & headed for Laguna Beach in Southern California. This is a wealthy area with big houses overlooking the spectacular ocean views. The town centre is full of one of a kind shops and galleries. There were some very beautiful artworks & handicrafts. It is a very arty area with sculptures dotted throughout the town and in the park at the top of the cliff. We spent a couple of hours wandering in & out of the shops & galleries & then headed along the Pacific Coast Highway to Newport Beach, stopping for a late lunch at Woody's Diner - I love an old fashioned American style diner!!
We got there just before 4pm & headed for the Newport Pier to watch the sunset. The pier itself was closed because there were going to be fireworks tonight so we walked down onto the sand. It has been a warm day but there was a chill in the air by late afternoon. Newport seemed similar to Laguna Beach but not as arty. These southern beaches are so much nicer than Venice & Malibu.
We hit some very heavy traffic going back to Anaheim & dropped into the hotel to pick up jumpers before heading out to Downtown Disney which is the shopping/dining precinct outside Disneyland. We went into the main stores - World of Disney & The Lego Store before finding a restaurant for dinner.
We have a very early start in the morning because we don't know how heavy the traffic will be. We have to drop the car back before getting on a 9am flight to New York.
