Emma- The Globetrotting Girlie- Australia
6:00pm
We have just got off the bus in the centre of Franz Josef. It is really wet and cold! We saw the YHA and headed in that direction with our huge packs, only to find that there were no vacancies. We found Chateau Franz next door which did have vacancies!
This place is absolutely amazing! FJ is a huge glacier and to go travelling around the world and not come here is a crime. So we did the touristy thing and went on a glacier walk with our crampons. It was really scary stuff and many people loose their lives here, but the photographs were breathtaking! All in all we spent 3 hours walking on the glacier and we kept being left behind as we wanted to capture the moment on our cameras!
We shared our room with three lads, two german guys and 1 English. You can't get away from the English, they' re everywhere! In the evening we made full use of the hot spa pool which was right by our room. There were five of us in there last night with a bottle of wine. What a perfect way to wind down after a strenuous walk on the ice!
Bliss.

Today was spent being really lazy. I went on the internet again and sent replies to the back log of emails that I had received.
The evening was spent in the spa pool again with copious amounts of wine. We finished the night at Blue Ice Cafe where we got merry and danced until 4am!

We tried to remove ourselves from our beds, but somehow it didn't quite happen! We all had hangovers! After eating breakfast together and seeing off Alex and Toby, Rob, Sarah and I took to the road for some serious hitch hiking. We weren't doing it for long, when a Martin a Slovianian guy picked us all up! He was heading for Queenstown which was exactly where we wanted to go.
Nine hours later... we arrived!
