We arrived in QT at about 6:30 being very tired. We were given the penthouse room in a hostel which was cool. Later on we made our way to one of the best nightspots in town- The World Bar. Here you can order a cocktail in a teapot for $15, which is pretty quirky but very tasty. The weather here is very warm and the sun is out much of the time. There's been so much going on in NZ! 1/12/2004 I went horse riding with Dart Stables in Glenorchy. It was a real treat to get away from the hustle of the town. We rode through many of the areas where Lord Of The Rings was filmed and I actually rode a horse who was in it! 4/12/2004 Today we went on the gondola viewing the sights and sounds of Queenstown. We had lunch at the top viewing the whole of the area. 6/12/2005 On the morning of the 6th we were thinking about what to do. We had both talked about doing a sky dive and weren't really sure how to approach it. We spoke to the girl on the activities booking desk and after a long chat with her we decided to go for it. We booked it that monring and did it the same afternoon. We set out on the ten minute journey to the landing ground. There were 5 other people in the party and as we were all in the same boat we made friends quickly! I didnt really have any nerves I just couldn't wait to get into the sky. We had to wait about 2 hours as there were many people before us. When the time finally came we got into our jump suits and the guy I was jumping with, Uros sorted out the harness and we went through a safety talk where the guys told us exactly what to do. The small plane only carries 3 pairs of jumpers and was sooooo tiny. I was in the same plane as sarah which was cool as she is in a few of my photographs and we' ll be in the video together!! We got all hooked up on the plane. The flight up there was amazing on its own. It had been snowing heavily the night before so the views were absolutely breathtaking. We flew over the snowy mountains and slowed down and hovered when the guage got to 12,000. There was one chinese girl on the plane and she was nearest the door so she went first. Next it was me. Uros sat on the edge of the plane and i was strapped to the front of him so while he was sitting on the edge of the plane I was already outside with my feet dangling !!!! We were looking out and down onto this huge mass of white! We were directly above the Remarkables, (a mountain range). I remember being really cold, but it didn't really bother me because I was so excited! After two taps on my shoulder Uros jumped of the plane and we were falling. Falling from 12,000 gives you 45- 50 seconds of free fall which is when you are flying on your own, without any parachute. It feels like you are flying above the whole world! it is one of the most amazing feelings that words simply cannot describe! After what seemed only a short time we opened the parachute and it suddenly jerked us upwards. This point was one of the best parts of the jump because it was so quiet and you can see everything. This must be the feeling that makes these professional guys come up here and do it thousands of times a year! I landed on the grass and the first thing i said when they asked me how i felt was "I wanna get up there and do it all again!" It took me ages to come down from the adrenaline high. The feeling was of pure euphoria and I can see why these guys who have done 2500 + are totally addicted. Once you've done it, you have to do it again and I definately want to do it again!
