Our last blog from Asia! We can't believe how quickly the past few months have gone but we have loved it and will definitely miss it.
Kuala Lumpur was a fun buzzing city. We spent the majority of our time there drinking free tea in the awesome guesthouse - we did manage to get out and see some of the city though, including great views off the KL tower and the almighty Petronas Towers.
Before heading into Singapore we stopped off for a couple of nights in the little port town of Melaka. It was a nice change that we were a minority tourist and the majority was made up of Chinese Singaporeans! Although it was strange to see cyclos driving through the town with techno music booming. We did a mini "Lara" tour, which was less successful than a "Pug" tour but involved alot of eating instead (sorry to disappoint you Dad)!
Then we had a very pleasant, quiet and organised journey into Singapore. At first we were abit put off by all the rules (there's a sign in the tube station saying "No Durians" - which is a fruit) and it seemed alot more uptight than the rest of Asia, but after our day of walking and popping over to the ultra-touristy/theme park like Sentosa Island we love it here. It so lovely and clean! The tubes are extremely quiet and never seem to be busy, and there seems to be no smog here at all. Sort of a paradise city really, but with all the rules (and money!) I guess you'd expect it to be. We also stumbled upon a guy from Llantwit Major last night at our guesthouse which was awesome, he's in the same school year as us so I was trying to discover at least one person we both knew - didn't happen though!
We fly to Perth in the morning, which we're getting excited about, so we're off to the airport at some point in the next few hours. As we've got an early check in we thought we'd wait at the airport instead of paying for two beds in a dorm for a few hours and maybe missing check-in!
Onwards to Australia! Wohoo!
