Arriving in Auckland we were pleasantly surprised that the sun was shining and we felt pretty warm! It was hasslefree to get into the city and we had the added bonus of being upgraded from dorm accommodation to our own room at our hostel! A rare treat. Due to rearranging our flights to avoid Papua New Guinea (heard some horror stories and worked out expense) we were no longer going to make it up to Cairns so unfortunately we missed diving on the Great Barrier Reef, which is an immense shame.
