We've had a busy few weeks, which included Edd turning one year older! I had a surprise party for him, although it wasn't that much of a surprise as he pointed out, we only know 6 people in Melbourne. He knew people where coming over, but he wasn't sure which of the 6 people had confirmed. So that bit was a surprise. Everyone had a lovely evening and he officially turned 28 the next day at 9am. (Being born in England, he decided that Friday the 31st wasn't his birthday, as we were in the wrong country).
So I woke up to a 28 year old the next day.
After work being thin on the ground for him, the jobs started coming in like buses. He got 3 interviews in the space of 2 days, took the first one, skipped the second one and went to the third. He now also has a few other potential jobs in the pipeline, over and above what he is currently working on and got lined up. I tearfully said good bye to my house husband and he embarked on his new job, as a Victorian builder. I'm hoping he gets promoted to something with a fancy title and a corner office so I can be his house wife. (That's what I tease him at least).
He's been sailing a few times as well, coming home and passing out at 7.30pm on a Saturday. Such party animals. The sailing is going really well and he will be on the commodores boat in the summer, although he's really enjoying the crowd of people he's with at the moment, so we'll see what he decides.
I didn't work much last week, (only 3 days), so decided to take matters into my own hands and apply to independent schools in the area for CRT work. I got a really positive response, working at a school a stones throw away as an independent contractor one of the days. This has in turn jacked my work up at the agency as they now know I have other work coming in, (if they are your only source of work, they leave you for later in the morning, for late bookings - if there are any. Big if). Anyway, I now have a 4 week contract at a school close by teaching art that starts on September 7th, which I'm pretty excited about.
We're going away to a wine farm tasting weekend thing this weekend - Edd's parents birthday present to him, I'm the lucky plus one (the perks of the job).
Other than that we're plodding along, going to the South Melbourne market for fresh meat and veg, because it's cheaper. Sailing, working and taking day trips to get to the know the areas - we went to Geelong on Sunday, had some lunch while we were Domain apping houses in nearby areas and then driving to the houses, checking out the amenities and getting to know the market.
Our lives aren't as interesting as they were when we were travelling, and gone are the updates on what we ate for the day. (Although Edd and I cook together, so that's a team effort now - if it's a flop its both of our faults. That's my story and I'm sticking to it).
