We got up at 8.30am - breakfast was served until 9.30, so we had to be up and at 'em in time to get food. Breakfast consisted of: toast, croissants, plain bread, seeded bread, cheese, peanut butter and a different type of egg each day. Today it was omlet. This was accompanied by a glass of juice and coffee.
After breakfast, we were advised to take a walk to the other parts of the island to snorkel. I was feeling a bit better, but had another glass of the strange tea that worked miracles on a persons throat. We then got our things together and walked up the stiars, through the jungle, to the other side of the island. We walked along the beach and had to make use of walkways that had been constructed over rocks to get across to different parts of the island. This island was far from commecialised, enough was done to gain access to places, but these were by no means well kept areas. They were swept, but htat was it.
We stopped by some rocks and decided to snorkel around an area that looked like a mini island. Cip stayed with our stuff and Edd and I dived in. (Diving in the proverbial sense, the water was too shallow to actually dive).
Edd immediately pointed out a dreaded and deadly rockfish; we'd googled the suckers, so knew what they looked like. Stand on one of those and you're as good as dead; I wished I had brought the camera in with me to take a snap. It turned out to be the best reef we'd been in thus far; it was alive with sea life that we hadn't seen yet, we were excited to observe the goings on of the newly discovered fish.
We got out an hour later, animated about what we'd just seen. We wanted to see turtles, but had not been fortunate enough, so we packed up our stuff and headed back to our resort - it was time for a nap.
We woke up after 4pm and I decided we should explore the sea directly in front of us, Edd suggested we head a bit further left and then float back with the current, I agreed and we set off down the sandy walkway to the beach below.
We swam all the way to a pontoon on the other side of the bay; the sea dropped off and the water was a dark blue; you couldn't see much unless it was right in front of you. Edd yanked my arm and pointed to this dark and mysterious part of the water, a fish 1.5meters long swam past us and I nearly had a minor hernia. I'd never seen a fish that big before in my life, let along swum with it! I was ready to go back.
We started drifting back towards the beach when Edd pointed to an area in the shallows, he'd spotted a shark. That was me done. Get me out, now! He swam back with me until I felt safe enough to go it along - I then left him to contend with his big fish and sharks alone, I beach myself like a whale and watched him from a safe distance. On land.
He eventually joined me and we went back upstairs for a shower and a freshen up. It was nearly time for dinner and it had just gone gin o'clock.
We joined Cip on the purple bean bags and had a gin while we reflected on the days activities. Cip had absolutely no interst in discovering what was in the sea, he'd rather have a swim to cool down and then continue working on his tan. After our encounter with a shark (eventhough I hadn't seen it) I realized he was smarter than Edd and I put together. Why anyone would want to go looking for sharks is beyond me; I was looking for turtles anyway.
We had a delicious BBQ dinner, served as a buffet. We all went up for seconds (Edd wondered if we were allowed to, I was quite happy to test the waters on his behalf - the beef steak skewers were amazing and I needed more). Everyone went up for seconds and some even went up for thirds (I was a stuffed turkey by then), but at the end of it, we ended up back on the purple bean bags for a little R&R. It had been an eventful day and we all required much needed sleep.
