I flew up to Bariloche with the military airline (who use serving military pilots). Had one of the scariest landings I´ve ever had - was quite a lot of turbulance and also the pilots went low early and continued fast until the last minute. I think they just know what the plane can do but certainly felt different to your normal comercial airliner landing. Back to Argentina... I´ve been in El Calefate and the main thing here is the big glacier 80Km down the road (Moreno). It is a massive glacier that is slowly sliding into a lake at the bottom and bits break off every few minutes or so. Very big and very spectacular. "The end of the World..." I´m at the Southern tip of South America. More Southerly than New Zealand or Austrailia and in fact the most Southern town in the World. Below is only Antartica. The last town in this area that really retains a Welsh feel to it is Gaiman. It´s a small place set back in the Chebut valley and was settled in the late 1800´s. There are about 5 "traditional Welsh tea houses" in the town and I stayed overnight in one with guestrooms - Plas y Coed. One of the owners- Anna - spoke Welsh. After 20 hours in a bus I arrived in Patagonia - Puerto Madryn to be exact. This is where the Welsh people landed in 1865 and set up a community - hence the photo of me with a combined Welsh/Argentinean flag (in a small museum about the Welsh community here).
