Ellen Abroad
This weekend I went to Lyon, France. Caitlin, Lauren, Samantha and I went up on Friday afternoon. Then, Heather and Courtney joined us on Saturday. Dan also showed up; he had missed his flight home on Friday, so he decided to stay an extra day.
Lyon is a great city. There is an awesome young atmosphere and there are plenty of things to do. The night life was great and there were plenty of sights to see during the day. I do not however recommend the Hotel Bretagne. I think it is where people go to die of lung cancer. It smelt so badly of smoke, that I could only breathe through my mouth. Luckily I was only really there to sleep and shower. And hey, thats what 12.50€/night will by you. welcome to budget travel!
On Saturday morning, we climbed the mountain to the Basilica above the city. The views were very rewarding for the hike up! After we climbed up we found out that we could have taken the metro to the top...oh well!
That night we were able to get a three course meal for 14€. Had to get a good meal in the food capital of France!!
Anyway, no one sprained their ankle on this trip and there was hardly any rain. It was very cold, but at least it was dry and sunny most of th time.
All in all, Lyon is great and I would recommend it to anybody.
Next Weekend: PARIS BABY!!!
