OMG it is soooo cold. yesterday the weather was a bit cool but OK. Today it is raining and sooo dam cold. I bought the girls pashmina scarves and I been wearing all 3 today, with gloves, beanie and rain coat and still freezing.
This morning I went to Hagia Sofia. It was built in 537 and was the greatest Christian church in the world till about 1450 when some dude named Mehmet took over and turned it into a mosque. Since then it has been used for all sorts of things and now it is a tourist attraction and one hell of a money spinner. 30 lira to get in and there were people lined up most of the day. It is huge and really impressive. They are doing some restoration there so there is scaffolding up and it makes the place look even bigger. The thing I noticed the most was the marble floors and steps are all worn smooth from so many people walking on them. there are a few of the original mosaics left upstairs. A great story some Sheila named Zoe had a mosaic of her and her husband. When she changed husband she had the mosaic changed. The third husband was in the last mosaic cos he outlived her. It is and amazing place and I really enjoyed it.
Because it was so cold and wet I jumped on the Hop On Hop Off tour of the city. They do 2 loops and it was pretty good even though we had the blinds down to keep the rain out. It meant I didn't get to see everything but still saw most stuff.
I am getting worried about Friday night out in the open in this freezing wet weather. I hope they have a plan B.

Aprille there must be oodles of Aussies there is there?
john Skelton early in the week every second person was wearing something that said "ANZAC" or4 "lest we forget" but they seem to have disappeared. Seems like they all realize it is not unique. Lots of Germans and French.
