dzasta travels
Today is about moving. 5am start and drive all day. I love it cis it means we are finally heading somewhere instead of just sitting around. Tonight we camped at the Old Farmhouse. Another OK campground but again in the middle of nowhere so nothing to do except shower and go to bed. All the places we have camped have been pretty good but they are in the middle of nowhere so there is nothing to do at night, after I have done my chores of course. There is another truck of young girls following us and we beat them here so we get the first chance to upgrade. (too expensive) and all the hot water. Early start again tomorrow, 5am breakfast for a long drive to Dar es salaam. We had a couple of drinks at the bar. Double shot, comes in a sachet, with soda and king brown chaser is $8, great value. The morning it is freezing. I cand believe how cold it has been here in Africa. The mornings especially have been freezing cold.
This morning we came down the mountains into the rift valley. Some of the views were amazing but I couldn't get photos cos the truck windows were dirty and the sun was shining right at me. we stopped in the Boab valley for some pics ( here they call them Boabab). The drive to Dar is through a game park and we saw lots of animals at last. All the usual suspects and lots of them, it was better than the game drives we have done so far.
We were told we have to pack for Zanzibar while we are on the way. We are not allowed to take our pack so have to live out of small bag for 3 days cos pack goes with luggage and takes time? It is pretty hard to keep swaping stuff between bags.
Arrived at Dar and the traffic was crazy. They say it is usual. We appeared to arrive at one side of the city and took 3hr to skirt around the city to the other side. We went past heaps of markets and street stalls...this is the third world country I came to see. Of course we are camped in the middle of nowhere again so we are stuck in a massive camp with heaps of trucks everywhere.
I will try to upload some pics later or tomz at Zanzibar if I can
