dzasta travels
The trains here all run on Moscow time, no matter where you are. my train last night was at 15.45 on the ticket so that means 19.45 local time cos here is Moscow plus 4hr. It can be a little confusing but more confusing if they all ran on local time, since there are 9 time zones in Russia. Novosibersk is the first place I have been so far that is on a different time zone to Perth. Up until now I have been on the same time as you.
It doesnt get dark here til after 11pm so I feel like a pensioner. Dinner by 5 and in bed before dark.
This train is the fanciest train I have been on so far. I am still travelling Plastkart (3rd class) but this train is almost new. Very fancy. I got my favourite seat no37. It is next to the dunny so no one wants it. I like it cos it is bottom bunk and usually the bunk above is empty. That means I can put my pack up there and chain it to the train and still be able to get at it. Perfect.
Just when I thought train trips were getting easy the Griswalds get the compartment next to me. It is all OK till time to sleep. He has the loudest snore ever. It is just bearable until the train stops. For some reason when the train stopps his snoreing goes to another level. We were at a station for about 1/2hr and I couldnt sleep he was sooooooo loud. As soon as the sun came up the three of them were rustling around in every plastic bag they have to get breakfast and then when they finished they put it all away again. I looked up and everyone else on the train was still asleep. I dont know how people do 5 or 6 days on the train.
I made it to Novosibersk and there is nothing here. It is a railway town at the junction of the three major lines in Russia. It is the biggest train station in Russia and it is massive. It is a transit stop for me and I have already booked my next train to Yekateringburg for tomorow morning. I think that will also be a transit stop, overnight.
I will look around here today and might put up a few pics this arvo.
