I am in a 6 bed dorm (I hate dorms and will never do it again) and the 3 on the top bunks snore, must be something about the air up there. The chick was the loudest and the Japanese girl got up and told her to stop snoreing. I couldnt sleep so I was up at 5.30 and after SSSS was outa there looking for breakfast and the Kremlin. It is supposed to be a 20min walk and after 1hr I decided I was lost and should re look at the map.Tvetskya is supposed to run straight into the back of the Kremlin. While Im walking Im checking out some clasic Soviet architecture. I think they were lazy cos they just design part of the building then cut and paste all the way across the page. One building I saw was repeated 3 times, He just cut and past then did 3 copies. I stop when I see a metro sign, they have a name on them and it is a landmark you know is correct on the map. Turns out I was on one of the ring roads, I sorted it and headed in the right direction. When I started passing Chinese looking buildings I knew I was headed in the right direction. I was in Kitay Gorod (translates to China Town) and is at the back of the Kremlin near Red Sq. Then down the road I saw it and walked straight into Krasnaya Ploschad (Red Square) and WOW!!!. This is what I have come to see. The 20min walk had taken me 2hr15min but it was all worth it. What an amazing sight.
I headed around the front and got a ticket for 700r, a bit steep but it includes the Armoury. The Artmoury is timed so I have to go there first. Im not a museum kinda person and after seeing that one Im still not. Its just a bunch of old junk. The tour guides push and shove and get in front of everything.
Back to the Kremlin and present my ticket and there is a problem. My ticket is ONLY for the Armoury. I have to go back and buy another ticket. There is NO WAY I would have bought the ticket if I had known it was only for the Armoury. Its raining, Ive got wet feet, Ive been walking for over 4hr and my knee is giving me hell, do you think I am gonna tell them I an a little annoyed. I went to the same window and let rip "YOU SAID ALL KREMLIN THIS IS F#*KIN BU%L S#*T. There is NO WAY I would have paid that kind of money for a museum" Of course she now doesnt speak english. I got another ticket for ALL Kremlin.
The Kremlin is huge. It is a mini city with about 5 churches and half a dozen huge government buildings. They are setting up for a concert so there is tents and scaffold and **** everywhere. 700RUBLES to get in to the Armoury, can you believe that? Again the tour guides push and shove and dont stand to one side they always stand right in the way. 700 rubles is over $25. It had stopped raining and I had seen enough so I will check outside on the way home. 700RUBLES?
I have got it sussed to get home. Straight up Tverskaya and Im home. Except the station looks different. Woops should have been Tsvetnoy. Around the ring road again, only took 1 1/2 hr to get home so I am getting better. It has been over 9hr walking and I can hardly move. I was going to go back tonight to get some pics with the lights on but it doesnt get dark til after 11pm here so it might have to wait for another day.
stand back here come the pics.
I made the supreme sacrifice tonight and walked all the way down to Red Sq to get some pics in the dark. It was pissin rain all the way and when I got there the place was closed. I mean closed and big steel gates locked. So no pics of St Basil's under light.
