Had a delayed journey to Hervey Bay and arrived just in time for our 3pm briefing for the Fraser Island camping. Sounded pretty hardcore and loads of warnings about the dingos roaming the island etc. Had to go and buy all our food and drink for the trip and had an early night because of the early start. Arrived in Brisbane after only a short bus ride. Nice city, very small compared to Melbourne and Sydney but definitely worth a visit. Surfers Paradise was very strange, it was not like Australia at all. We could have been anywhere like Benidorm or Spain, there was nothing about it that was Ozzy! I am glad we only had a 2 night stop over here. The beach was nice, but the rip was so dangerous in the sea that there are only small sections of the massive stretch of beach that you can swim with lifeguard supervision and even then you have to be really careful.
