So we arrived 15 minutes early, however 40 minutes later we were still circling around Dubai Airport. When we eventually landed it was raining...in Dubai??? What’s going on?
We took a taxi to Catherine’s apartment and had a most welcome brew then decided to go for a short walk to her local beach. Today Dubai was having a sandstorm and as you can see from the picture you couldn’t see very far, there are in fact very high buildings in that photo. We went back to the apartment calling for a sandwich en route then spent a couple of hours by the pool,which was very long but warm.
After our time there we caught the metro to the Dubai Marina where we took a boat ride round to see the Palm. The sea was very choppy and we were ordered back from the outer deck inside.
Dinner in a very good Italian where my dessert came with a belated birthday candle and the full monte of waiters singing happy birthday
By this time we were beginning to feel the effects of a 14hr flight with no sleep and decided to call it a day.
So blissful to sleep in a proper bed after an aircraft seat.
