Year-long Retirement Odyssey
Leaving Edmonton, we drove on a very nice 4 lane highway (Trans-Canada Highway #16) across the plains of Canada towards our next stop in Saskatoon,Saskatchewan. We came into the town of Lloydminster, not paying a lot of attention as there was really nothing special about this town. All of a sudden, in the middle of the town is the Alberta - Saskatchewan border! I don't remember who was driving, but someone grabbed a phone or camera and snapped a shot of the sign of the border - right on an intersection in the middle of town!
When we arrived in Saskatoon, we pulled into the Gordon Howe Campground ~ a very nice campground within the Gordon Howe Park. Jerry filled us in with the fact that Gordon Howe was Saskatchewan's favorite son of hockey. It was pretty impressive! It was a very nice RV park with fairly private parking sites. We arrived on a Saturday and arranged to stay here for 2 days ~ again, time to get some "chores" done.
Sharon and I attended church on Sunday at a Mennonite Brethren church, Forest Grove Community Church. We found out about the church from the youth pastor at our church in Fountain Valley, CA. Several interns had served at our church who were from Saskatoon and this was one of the churches that the interns had come from. After the church service, we were able to meet the youth pastor and a young lady who had visited our church in Fountain Valley.
Later that afternoon, we arrived back at our trailer. Jerry and Arlene told us that there was a Seahawks game on that evening that they wanted to watch. While I stayed home with Roxie, Sharon, Jerry and Arlene went over to a nearby sports bar to watch the game.
