Thanks to the Murray clan for an incredible day in the Western Highlands. I now know why i feel like the back country in the Canadian Rockies are my second home: its in my blood!
We drove from Glasgow NW through Dumbarton, Alexandria and along the scenic westerns shores of Loch Lomond. We finished the northward journey into Crianlarich and west to the port at Obar.
I have never had mussels so fresh in my life. Sooooo good. I also slurped back a lemon teased oyster! Oh so tasty.
The true highlight of the day was yet to come however; as we passed through the highlands at Glen Coe. It was such a beautiful and peaceful place. The clouds socked in and drizzling as it should be, I walked up a small hill to the top of the waterfall you see in the photos. Looking up into the hills it was spectacular. No photo could do justice to the panorama of misty green and rocky outcroppings. As if it could not be any more of a soul moving moment a piper started playing at the rest stop.
So incredible.

angela Okay, now I am officially jealous.
Auntie Carol I'm thinkin' ye missed yer callin', lad. Yer prose is positively pleasing.
Gord Spoken like a true warrior poet! Glad you had an excellent day - did Angus stick to the speed limit? It's a fair few miles of very twisty dual carriage way roads - what did you make of that Loch Lomond road - so narrow - nothing worse than meeting a goods vehicle or bus! So you went to Oban! Wow and you took a picture of my favourite ferry company and a chinese restaurant named after my beloved soccer team!! ..and Glen Coe the scene of the MacDonald massacre at the hands of the Campbells. Truly an incredible day alright - no wonder you were Mr. Frisky after eating that Oyster! Actually it is more incredible that you didn't stop for a 'wee dram' of the single malt variety!! Back to work tomorrow - I want to hear tales of Mary Hill and you need get a picture of the Duke of Wellington statue WITH traffic cone...!! Nothing says Glasgow like that image (Statue is located at Royal Exchange Square - east off Buchan St)
