Well today is the most important day of my trip. The day i go to my Grandfather's home town. What a beautiful town on the North Sea.
I rented a car and travelled north through Aberdeen to the little fishing town of Banff. What an incredible place to see. So well kept and clean. I ate dinner on the rocks beside the sea as the sun was starting to go down.
Tonight i'm staying in a small villiage a little further west of Banff called Cullen. I had a wee dram of (well not so wee) scotch with the owner of the B&B and he filled me in on a little bit of the history of the area. He asked if the family was related to one of the local buisness' that has been around for years. I'll have to talk to the old man about that one and see! Check out the pics. I'm off to sleep now more exploring tomorrow.

Gord. After looking at the photographs I am beginning to wonder where the sun was? The thought of having dinner by the shore has me wondering if you were back on the Oyster diet or you were dining on some freshly caught sea birds (knowing that you are a bit of a climber!) What was the name of you host in Cullen and what kind of a dram did you have single or blended malt (I mean did they get the good stuff out for you?) Where are you headed tomorrow? Let's hope you see the sun - it is supposed to be a mild 29c tomorrow then it's the Parade on Friday with the Royal Couple in attendance - they are really gutted you were not going to be here to see them... Actually looking at the Map it was quite the drive from Edinburgh to Banff - you are only a short drive away from Inverness perhaps you can nip over there and see if you can spot the Loch Ness Monster???
dan Stayed at Amaryllis house. It was Grants scotch other than that i dont know. You will have to wait for the update!
Gord. A warm and friendy welcome awaits you at the Amaryllis Guest House. Situated in the Beautiful coastal town of Cullen, looking out onto the Moray Firth. On the doorstep of Malt Whisky Country, history all around. James and Pauline Fowler have been connected with the Hospitality Industry for over 36 years, and James’s family in Buckie since 1901 by way of 'Fowler’s Bakery', which included confections and were early pioneers of catering. Our aim is to extend a warm welcome to Guests in our Family run Guest House and hopefully to make it an enjoyable experience to be remembered. Serving a blended malt from the west coast is hardly fitting for a weary traveller from Canada.....they should have served a nice dram of Aberlour - right from the local Aberlour Distillery in Banffshire. Should bring back a bottle!!
ben ay laddie! gettin ur "drink on, and ur kilt on" i can see! i disagree with gord in that i think ur quite talented at blogging...er better than me anyways - which isnt saying much. however reading the commentary back and forth between the two of you i feel is giving me quite the history lesson / "list of things to do" on a future trip. perhaps ur dialogue could be an interesting format for a travel book. (million dollar idea?) maybe not...haha. anyways dan awesome to be able to tune-into ur travels! sorry i havnt been able to write yet...(26 days straight 14hr days!!) ...but today is my first day off! in a hotel in GP right now on route home. get the weekend off and am going to the stampede!!! anyways...sure miss ya (as excited for you as i am) i can't wait til ur home. cant wait to play!! GORD It has been a little while since the last update and I feel a little compelled to jot a few lines in case everyone was wandering were the wee man was today... DAN: "Following some true Scottish hospitality with some tall tale telling rouges in Glasgow - this morning I awoke at the crack of dawn with a sudden and uncontrolable urge to trace a long lost relative named hughie. As I called out to him repeatedly, I soon began to pray to god that I may quickly find peace and stop my searching. I quickly met Kim fresh off the plane before returning to the secure facilities in Auld Reeckie. Then it was out to Edinburgh's finest boutiques in search of shoes and handbags..."
