Greetings once again from Bendigo. Woke up this morning to the sound of rain on the roof and a very grey and miserable day. We went into town to the visitors centre to see what there was to do and ended up going to the Central Deborah Gold Mine and going underground 61 metres. I know the picture is a bit dickey but it's all we have. It was one of the best touristy things I have ever done but probably what made it better was that we were the only two at that time so we got good treatment. Makes you realise we don't how lucky we are these days. There are some lovely buildings to be seen so we shall do some more things tomorrow.
We are amazed at how many friendly people we meet and how many people have been to NZ one guy has a friend in Milton and has been there 4 times another today went on a cruise from Australia and went to Port Chalmers and the guy at the visitors centre today liked Dunedin and all our old buildings.
Chris seems to be on a spending frenzy at the moment most unlike him as I'm sure you all know. Clothes, hats, stubby holders but the best purchase today was a BBQ so we can at last throw a prawn or two at it.

Carol Clarke Wow...I like the sound of the gold mine and going underground. Makes you realise how much effort it put into getting the stuff. Sounds as though you might need a nugget or two if Chris keeps up his spending. Glad to hear you are enjoying the trip. Sounds great! carol
