So. One of the most touristy parts of Fiji; The Yasawas. It is a longe chain of islands, all of them with white beaches, good snorkelling and sunny for the most part. I figured I just wanted to relax on a beach with a book, so I chose three islands that either looked good in the brochure or was recommended to me. One of the places was fully booked, so I only got to see two of the islands, but that was fine for now.
I spent six nights on Drawaqa island, on Barefoot Lodge. There I met Jo (Canada) and Lars (Holland) and they were on their way to New Zealand for a year or so. I was happy to tag along with them when it was time for snorkelling - since I am quite new to it. We would sometimes be taken on a boat a bit off the island and would snorkel while Jay (the guy on the boat) was fishing. I took some pictures with a disposable underwater camera, but it is still a question if it will turn out anything like it's supposed to. It just might end up being a bunch of shots of water... Well, the coral in Fiji is amazing and I had a great time. We even saw a shark! And yellow boxfish and the entire cast of Nemo. Some of the snorkellers and Jay caught two octopi (I looked up the plural), and we had some for dinner. The suction cups was too much texture for me to deal with, but I had the other bits.
I spent a large amount of time in the hammock, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the island. The amazing sunset was on most nights followed by coctail hour, and after dinner the stars were out - so beautiful.
On the way home, Lars said to one of the guys: I bet you'll always remember me. The guy pointed at me and said: I'll always remember Judy. Priceless. My name is a bit difficult here, and I've even been called Truly. I quite like it.
