We left Kings Creek today and headed for Alice Springs. Adrian and Michelle took the Mereenie loop road which was too rough for our caravan, so we went back on the bitumen towards Alice.
The first stop for the day was at the Henley Meteor Craters. There are 14 craters ranging from7 to 180 metres in diameter. We went about 20ks down a dirt road before we made it to the stop. Once out of the car we were literally carried away by flys and being attacked by cateyes from the ground....we had lunch in the van so we could hide from all the dangerous creatures. Once lunch was over we braved the wild again to make the 1k trek out to the giant holes in the ground. After all that excitement we headed off towards Alice. We arrived late in the day and stayed at the big four which had a great pool, much to the kids delight. Alice springs is surprising because you imagine that the landscape would be flat, however the MacDonnell Ranges provide a great backdrop to a lovely part of Australia.
We actually got to eat out tonight, no camel in sight.....
