This morning we headed off to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest for our pre arranged rickshaw ride through the forest. Two train rides and a short walk to where we met our rickshaw driver, Koki. Fantastic young Japanese guy, full of enthusiasm, knowledge and a very respectful attitude. His strength to haul us and a rickshaw was amazing. The bamboo forest was incredible. Average height around 20 metres. Following lunch and a stroll through the retail area we caught the bus to Kinkakuji temple, also know as the Golden Temple. Gorgeous building on the shores of a small lake and magnificent gardens. By this stage we were a little tired of public transport so treated ourselves to a taxi back to the hotel. Dinner was nearby in a great yakitori restaurant where we were lucky enough to be seated directly in front of the chef. It was a beautiful evening so we strolled the narrow lanes of Gion to Hokanji temple and then back to the hotel for a well earned sleep.
