You can't go to Japan without riding a bullet train at least once. A very quick 2 and a half hours saw us arrive in Tokyo and we were blessed on the journey by getting a reasonabl;e view of Mt Fuji. Covered by clouds to sopme extent but at least we could see the snow covered peak. Somehow we managed to navigate our way through Topkyo station and whilst we knew that our hotel was close by, we didnt realise that it was actually in the adjacent building. From our 30th room floor we had a magnificent view over the station and could see bullet trains coming and going. After settling in we decided that a visit to Shibuya Crossing was in order. This is an intersection where pedestrians are able to cross in any direction., and when the lights turn green it's every man or woman for themselves. Apparently the record is 4,000 people who crossed in a single change of lights. The "neon" signs on the surrounding buildings provide a dramatic backdrop to the whole scene. Our tiime in Tokyo was short so we decided the following day that we would jump on the "hop on, hop off" bus which does 3 routes through different parts of the city. However like most people we simply got on and didnt get off. It provided us with broad view of the citry in a short amount of time, with minimal effort on our part. Just what we needed after a little over 2 weeks of constantly being on the go. From there it was a another train trip to the airport for our flight home. A great experience and a great time. Where to next?

Sarah Another great blog Doug. I loved my time in Japan and I’m glad you did too. Kyoto was definitely my favourite place. I loved the sound of your last meal - delicious.
