(5 November)
We arrived into Bangkok the next morning, on high alert for flooding and was a bit disappointed not to see any water at all lol. The ones coming in the day before saw loads though apparently. We arrived back into our starting hotel which was so weird! Just coming full circle! Some of the others had left some things in storage at the hotel and poor Laura had had rats or mice going through her bag!! They had eaten a bag of sweets in there, and her clothes were dirty an stuff, gross! After that was sorted we went for lunch and to see Jim Thompsons house.
We had lunch in a local place, and I saw my first ladyboy...got such a shock when the girl serving me lunch had a big deep voice haha! Laura was having a bad day and went over her ankle while we were walking, and we ended up getting a taxi to the house and getting her sorted with a bandage and stuff, the staff there were lovely though!
Yea I know, who the hell is Jim Thompson?! Turns out he was responsible for exporting loads of Thai silk and stuff. He had a really cool house that was built to be traditionally Thai. It was actually really interesting! The guide was really good and funny, her English was amazing! And the house really was beautiful.
After that we stopped at MBK which is a massive shopping centre, makes the metro centre in Newcastle look like forestside! Actually huge! It was a bit mad, so we had a wander around for a bit then went back to the hotel to get ready for our last dinner!
The last group dinner was really nice, lovely food and Bom gave us some crickets to try...yum. Then we went for a few drinks with everyone and wandered along Kao San Road. It was a bit crazy but nothing as bad as I expected. First experience really of "buckets" - there's stalls everywhere selling plastic seaside buckets full of loads of alcohol...it's so weird to see! We didn't have a particularly big night, just a few drinks and back to the hotel early enough.
