Up very early this morning to be picked up for my tour! The first day involved a lot of driving. First we went to a Camel farm which was really cool, I don't think I'd ever seen a camel before! They are really cool animals! You could ride them for $6 so I had a wee go...little bit scary but not too bad!
After a few hours driving with a few stops along the way, we got to a campsite where we made our lunch - lunch meat sandwiches, not too bad! From there it was a short drive up to King's Canyon. We did a walk for around 3 hours which was really cool, some stunning scenery! Got to know re group a bit more too which was nice - we have 4 Koreans (2 girls who are really nice), 7 Germans (5 girls who are really nice and a couple who are a bit...antisocial) and a Welsh guy, who is nice too. Pretty good group really!
After the walk it was back to camp for "spaghetti bolognese" which had a crazy amount of random veg in it haha, carrots and peas and broccoli?! But it was really good. After dinner we chilled out for a bit, we talked of watching a movie but ended up putting on How I Met Your Mother which was nice. Some of the others played cards. It got cold very quickly though, and I was pretty tired quite early (maybe the time difference!) so was into bed quite early! Bed was a "swag", which is kind of like a huge sleeping bag with a thin mattress thing inside, and you sleep inside your sleeping bag inside the swag...on the ground under the stars. It was definitely an experience, and actually pretty cool! Was surprisingly comfortable, but took a while to warm up...had nearly all my clothes on and borrowed an extra hoodie and was still shivering! Found out the next morning that it had got down to 14 degrees though, so that was probably why!
