Standard early bus trip again this morning which was fun! Haha. Today we were heading to Raglan! I was really looking forward to it, thought it would definitely be one of those places I wanted to stay a bit longer.
The bus journey was fairly standard, slept most of the way. We stopped at a place called Bridal Veil Falls which was a really nice waterfall. Then we made it to Raglan!
It was absolutely gorgeous, probably helped that we had amazing weather but the scenery was class! Best of all we were booked in to surf that afternoon!
We stopped in town for a really quick lunch before driving out to our hostel which was 12pm away from the centre bit. When we got on the bus Chase told us that there had been a mistake and they didn't have enough room for us in the hostel - 5 people would have to go to Raglan Backpackers in town. I volunteered as I hadn't liked the idea of staying outside town when we only had one night there. We drove out to the other hostel anyway to pay for surfing and then when everyone else checked in, Katinka and I (turned out they were only 2 beds short) got a lift back into town to check into our hostel. It was really nice! Really cute and friendly and homely - the bit we stayed in was like an actual house, kitchen and living room and big bedrooms upstairs.
Once we had dumped our stuff we had a lift back out to the beach! I went and got my surfboard and wetsuit - funny getting into one of those again! Then I hit the sea! It was really good, pretty nice beginner waves but still big as you got out! Caught some class waves that you can ride for ages into the shore, and had some spectacular wipeouts too haha. Really enjoyed it! Great to get surfing again.
After surfing we all headed back to our respective hostels. Katinka and I met 2 really nice Dutch and German girls in the kitchen on our way through. I had a shower and then we went for a walk around town which was nice. I ended up getting fish and chips for dinner (it had smelled so good at lunchtime and had a queue out the door) which was awesome!! So yummy, worth breaking the diet for! We had dinner in the kitchen and chatted to a few people (some more Germans had joined the table) for a bit. Katinka told us how she had fallen in love with Bali and a Balinese man - bet mum's glad I didn't do that! Haha
After sitting chatting by the fire for an hour or so I headed for bed to read my book for a bit. Had a really good day!
