(2 December)
We had a wee lie in this morning and met Lisa at half 10 for another day of sightseeing. I was too lazy to move hostel when i woke up so just paid for another night where I was. I had a McDonalds for breakfast and kind of regretted it about 15 minutes later when Scott got the most amazing waffle ever!! I was far too full to have one but decided to get one before I left haha.
We walked to the post office on the west side of the river, and I was gutted because hadn't thought to bring anything to post and it was mega cheap, and because it was Friday it wouldn't be open again before I left! Pity like. From there we walked to see the gardens etc on the west side of the city. We saw a few mosques, from afar this time, and had a walk around an islam market, then walked up to the National Planetarium, which was awesome!! Like actually so cool haha. It was up a big hill, so by the top we were kinda just glad of the aircon like, but it was really cool, and we spent a good while in there. Made me a little sad because there was a lot of stuff I know I used to know, but haven't a clue about any more! Seriously getting more stupid by the day haha.
After the planetarium we walked past the bird park, which looked pretty cool but was too expensive, to the orchid garden, which was pretty but not overexciting! We were looking for the deer park for a while, but couldn't find it and just gave up because it was far too hot and we weren't majorly fussed. We passed a mosque which was just emptying after some sort of prayer and we were in a sea of men, it was really weird lol, and got ice creams just outside it. After walking a bit more we found the National monument, which was in a pretty park area. It was pretty cool, but we got accosted when trying to take pictures in front of it by a huge group of Chinese people, and they took like a million pictures of us, it was really extreme - especially when there's loads of white people in Malaysia!
After all that we walked towards Bukit Bintang, the main shopping street. Halfway there we had crazy rain again, and took refuge in an Indian for lunch. It was another buffet style thing which was nice enough! We made it to the road and I think we started at the wrong end, because we were in the smaller malls - the first was all electricals, the second was a horrible, cramped place full of tiny shops, almost like a market. At this point we separated from the boys, who were pretty disinterested in shopping, and arranged to meet in an hour and a half...definitely not enough time haha. I was looking for some benefit make up and ended up having to go to the furthest away mall (but def the best one!) to find it...so there was a lot of trekking through the rain. The shops were good but mostly international and with international prices which wasn't as fun haha.
We met the boys and had a look at the street on the map which had bars and restaurants marked on, but everywhere was pretty stupid prices, so they headed back and I went to shop a bit more. Had a good wee evening but then a massive trek in circles home which kinda put a dampener on it! Met a few weird locals too. Finally got back and had some crisps and then had an early night after talking to a few girls who had arrived in the hostel who were quite nice. We had heard that you could go up the Petronas Towers for free if you got there at 8.30 in the morning so had planned to do that, and the girls, Cat and Joey, said they would come along!
