Day 8
Another day on the beach, followed by another storm in the evening, well this storm gave us a power cut. Noone knew when the power would come back on, the guesthouse had candles on for lighting. So we had just got home from the beach and needed to shower bearing in mind it was pitch black now. So we got our torch out (thanks mum) and put the torch on my phone on and after two hours of chilling waiting for the lights to come on we decided we would have to shower as it was 10pm now, so with our two torches we each had a cold shower, as we applied aftersun the lights came on, air con and tv. We couldn't believe it when we had waited that long.
Day 9
After an uneasy sleep we woke and decided to go visit the beaches around the coast at Railey. So we headed to the beach and booked our tickets for the long boat to Railey beach, we arrived after about 10minutes, as we anchored at the beach we decided to go for a quick beverage before taking a look at the other beaches which were accessible by foot from Railey beach. So we headed along the walking street, well silly me I didn't have my flip flops on, and I tripped and hit my toe :( anyhow we progressed we followed the path for about 15minutes and came to a resort, right of the resort was a dusty into the forest, so we thought we were going in the wrong direction. So we went into the resort and asked if we were going in the right direction, they said yes, so we went back to the dusty road and headed up it, at the top were some shacks that were lived in by local Thai people, so we assumed we had gone the wrong was, we headed back and saw two couples and asked them where they were going and they said the beach and one of the girls said that the resort had told her it was about a 30minute trek, so we headed on our way.
I lead the way up the mountain, through the forest, asking people along the way, then we reached the top and came down the other side, obviously flip flops were not a good choice of footwear today, nor was not applying big spray, however we eventually made in to Tonsai beach, which was as beautiful as Railey.
We decided to go for a little explore in the the rocks. We had to be back at Railey beach at a certain time for the long boat back as the last one was at 6pm. We wanted to get se lunch before so decided we should head back but didn't fancy going back through the forest. Whilst exploring we saw a few people coming down from the rocks above, so we asked them where they had come from and they said Railey beach so we thought right we will go this way. We went to the rocks and realised that the rock we needed to climb on was upto my shoulder, and had a drop at the other side, so we had to jump across, but one of the guys said this was the most difficult part, so I plucked up the courage and managed to pull myself onto the side of the the rocks, there was a small gap between the rocks I was on and the one in front so I had to move across the rocks and jump from one to the furthest, and then I continued up to a safe spot until Luke could join me, we decided to do it without shoes upto here as the rocks were slippy. After this we then went up the side of the mountain but on rocks rather than forest, and a storm came, so the rocks became slippery but we had to keep going and head down to Railey beach, well..... We made it. When we got to the beach we went straight into the sea to get a the dirt, bugs and grime off us, and then had a little relax on the beach. There were tiny little crabs on the beach which kept jumping into little holes, they were so cute, but I couldn't get a picture as they were the same colour as the sand.
We went for lunch and had some rotee pancakes with banana they were scrum my, and another storm came, after this we headed back to the long boat and back to our beach.
Day 10
Today we chilled and went to the beach, buuttt there was just storms all day at first we went into the sea as it was warmed, but after the third one we decided to head back get changed and go out for some good, the power was out again, so we just changed and headed straight out. Tonight we went along the shops on the sea front and saw lots of lovely things, bags, jewellery, hats, sunglasses. Then we were just about to head home and my flip flops broke :( so we called a tuk tuk. We booked our excursion for tomorrow on the long boat to the Hong islands so will update up on that in due course.
Luke
The last few days have been really relaxing and I've even managed to get a tan :) still got a long way to go to catch up with Donna though she's nearly black already...
I was really proud of Donna for the trek over the rocks after going and checking it out and asking a few people if the path was ok I was a little worried that she wouldn't be able to get up the first few rocks but she did really well and lead the way back to Railey beach.
Speak soon x
