Today we were up early and headed off to the Panda Conservation Centre. The parks has over 80 Pandas. We also saw Red Pandas, peacocks and Koi fish in various ponds around the centre.
The park is set up to resemble the mountain and forest regions in north Sichuan, the original home of the Giant Panda, with extensive bamboo trees and large green spaces. We were lucky enough to see both the Giant Panda and Red Pandas being fed.
We had lunch in a local restaurant and then visited the Peoples' Park and Matchmakers' Corner. The park is pleasant. There is a lovely pathway around the park and a lake with pedal boats you can hire. There were a lot of people in the park, dancing, practicing tai chi and groups singing. The most interesting part of the park was Matchmakers Corner where parents search for suitable partners for their children. A type of resume is handwritten on a piece of paper and placed on the ground and people can read and enquire about the person to a matchmaker.
Our last stop today was at a silk factory. The items were beautifully made but very expensive. Back to our hotel for a farewell dinner. Clara gave a beautiful speech and bought us all a luggage tag. It was sad to say goodbye to our group as it signalled the end of our tour.
