Wednesday 23
Our last day in Sydney was either going to be a trip to the blue mountains or a chill day, we decided on the latter. We chilled on the roof top with breathtaking views of the bridge and opera house (there is only so many photos one can take) whilst waiting for the washing and drying to finish, then went to the famous pancakes on the Rocks (erm for pancakes). We then done a bit more chilling on the rooftop.
I would recommend YHA harbour the rocks for accommodation. It is built on stilts around ruins of one of the very first British colonies in Australia and a live dig is currently underway, this is open to non members of YHA to look at the digs and their findings are displayed in glass boxes. Our room had en suite, shower was big enough for two! (Room Basic) with kettle tea n coffee, Nice clean kitchen areas, TV lounge, cafe bar, roof top for sunbathing/socialising, Washing room, lovely friendly helpful reception staff, a mix of all ages no rowdiness and to top it off it was situated right next to the sights of Sydney. I would say it is on par with a travel lodge in England. It is in a very nice area of Sydney what is known as the "Rocks" right next door to the Shangri-la Hotel. We have never stayed at a YHA before, it was recommended to us by Glynnis. I think for approx £125 a night it was well worth it for such a prime location. Although we did find Sydney to be expensive, I suppose every city is. (PS - Mike seen his first Kangeroo last night - it was dinner)
All in all a good decision. Tomorrow Alice Springs here we come........
