Dominic says:
Now in Margaret River. It's a wine region.... have not found any good wine yet, or perhaps I should say we haven't found anything WE like. If I had to sum up the quaff I would say it 'lacks the subtle touch'. I guess I'm a French wine man through and through. The tragedy for Michelle is she is now a wine snob as well and if it doesn't reach the dizzy heights of a Puligny Montrachet she's not interested.
BUT, M.River region is not just about wine - we had a great time just driving around and there's some beautiful Karri forests here, which are a real relief after the relentless flat red scrub. In fact the country in these parts is in general much relief; there are hills (!) and it's greener in general. We visited a great little place yesterday called Nannup - former logging town now hippie backwater with organic cafes etc - on the Blackwood River. No time for canoeing unfortunately but we have Yosemite and Yellowstone coming up this Summer so not a problem..
We leave for Alice Springs on Wednesday 07th so speak from there
Cheers DB
