Got up & felt very nervous about the flight. But Rach saying that she'd kill me if I didn't come back, really steadied my nerves!! Having booked with the safest company was a comfort though. Off I went, still unsure as to whether I'd do it or not. Got to the little airport & befriended a young couple (he German, her Norwegian) who were a good crack & steadied my nerves slightly. An hour later & 4 of us boarded & took off. We flew at about 3000-3500 feet, banking hard left & then right so the 2 passengers on each side of the plane could see each design. The co-pilot kindly took pics with my camera, while I videoed it. We saw about 10 of the lines, including the monkey, astronaut, hummingbird & phoenix & it was amazing. Huge & perfectly formed shapes amongst multiple other perfectly straight lines. Well worth the scary 35mins flight! Got back to Rach about 1pm after visiting the other lady on the flight's converted ex-German Antennae Van, that her & her hubby have been travelling the world in for 6 years! (with a possible 10 to go!!!). We grabbed a quick fishy bite (mine raw!) before grabbing a detailed guided tour around the Cemetery. They'd excavated about 10 graves where the mummies remained in their seated faetal positions. Iinteresting but a bit morbid, especially when bone fragments still lay about the floor, as the whole area is one massive graveyard for local people, going back to the time when they believe the Nasca lines were created. An easy 4 hour bus ride later & we were in Ica & from there a 10mins taxi ride got us to Huacachina.
