Got up to find that the hill that we thought we saw in the dark last night, right next to us, was in fact a HUGE sand dune, & that we were surrounded by them!! And after a pot(!) of English breakfast tea with a half-English/half-salad (?!) brunch, we strolled into 'town' to find that we really had found our own little oasis. The whole tiny hamlet of restaurants, hotels, stalls & travel agencies is built around a REAL oasis about 250m in circumference. The place is stunning & with our hotel having a pool & sun loungers & a pub 2 doors away, we're staying!!! So the afternoon was spent sunning ourselves by the pool, chatting to guests & relaxing. That evening we went for an 'eat-all-you-can' BBQ (which we did!) & a few drinks next door with a young English guy & 2 Irish boys we'd been speaking to at our place. The cards came out for 'Ring of Fire' with our 2-for-1 cocktails & before we knew it, there was about 12 of us playing! Rach headed back earlyish, but a few F***ing Huacachinas later & the rest of us were being given Salsa lessons from a v.drunken local, who could definitely move. The b****** even danced me off the floor! So retired defeated!
